What we collect through this website, why, and how we protect it. In short: only what you send us, used only for admissions and school contact, never sold.
Who we are
This website (hmpublicschool.com) belongs to H.M. Public School, Lower Chutia, Ranchi – 834001, Jharkhand, and its unit H.M. Play School. The school is run by Social Welfare And Research Activity in Jharkhand (SWARAJ). In this policy, "we", "us" and "the school" mean H.M. Public School.
This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal data in line with applicable Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Information we collect
We only collect information that you choose to send us:
- Admission enquiry form: the student's name, class applying for, date of birth and gender; the father's and mother's names; a mobile number; an email address (optional); the home address; and, optionally, the previous school and last class attended.
- Contact form: your name, mobile number, the topic and your message.
- Messages you send us by email or WhatsApp.
The website itself does not set cookies, does not use analytics or advertising trackers, and does not store anything in your browser. Like all websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) in server logs to keep the site secure and working.
Children's information
Our forms ask for details about children because they are used for school admission. These forms are meant to be filled in by a parent or legal guardian. By submitting a form about a child, you confirm that you are the child's parent or guardian, or that you have their consent.
We use children's information only for admission and school communication. We never use it for advertising, profiling or tracking.
How we use your information
- To respond to your admission enquiry or message, and to contact you about registration, the admission test, interviews and the next steps.
- To plan admissions for the coming session.
- To keep the website secure and to prevent spam or misuse of our forms.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for marketing by other organisations.
Third-party content on this website
Some pages show content from other companies. They have their own privacy policies and may use cookies when their content loads:
- Google Maps: the map on our Contact page, and the "Directions" links.
- Facebook: the Facebook page box on our Updates page, which loads only when you scroll near it or tap "Load our Facebook posts".
- WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram: links that open these services when you tap them.
Photos and captions from our Facebook and Instagram posts are copied to our own website, so viewing them here does not contact Facebook or Instagram.
How long we keep it
We keep admission enquiries for the admission session they relate to and for up to 12 months after it ends. If the student is admitted, the information becomes part of the school's student records and is kept as required for school administration and the law. Other messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with them.
How we protect it
The website is served only over a secure (HTTPS) connection, form submissions are sent over encrypted connections, and access to the school inbox is limited to authorised staff. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you or your child;
- correct or update information that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete information we no longer need (subject to legal and school-record requirements);
- withdraw your consent for future use.
